Brief Introduction – One Wheel Scooter
What are those single wheel scooters called?
One Wheel Scooter are also called Electric unicycles, the new craze on one wheel.
Maybe you have seen someone riding around your city standing on a wheel. At first, it seemed impossible that anyone could not only stand on a wheel, but also ride at a high speed. Yes, electric unicycles are here to stay and are becoming more and more popular.
The main benefit of electric vehicles is that they are versatile and eco-friendly, with reduced weight and dimensions.
With an electric unicycle we can make small urban trips that will make our life easier. We can carry it with us in our car and not worry if we have to park far from our destination. We can use the train or subway to make our journey before or after if we live far from the stop.
Most of them have safety features like position and brake lights to be more visible at night.
It will take a little practice to master driving an electric unicycle, but no more than a few hours.
How much does a One wheel scooter cost?
In the wake of the pioneer Solowheel, many manufacturers have launched their gyroroue (electric monowheel or SBU for “self balancing unicycle“). These devices, sold between $550 and $2,000 US, combine flexibility and comfort for daily urban travel. Motor power, battery and maneuverability vary from one model to another.
Here are the main criteria to consider when choosing yours.
WHEEL DIAMETER
Most monowheelers are either 14 inches (about 35.5 cm) or 16 inches (40.6 cm) in diameter. Some manufacturers make smaller or larger models, depending on whether they want to emphasize responsiveness or stability.
These electric vehicles are usually equipped with wider tires, but this is not a determining factor.
They are more suitable for users who are looking for safety, not sensations.
SPEED AND RANGE
Monowheels are powered by a brushless motor. The power is necessary to keep the wheel stable and the user from tipping over.
It is generally between 500 and 1,800 W. And the top speed is between 11 – 16 miles per hour, which is more than enough for city travel (theoretical speed limit of 4 mph on the sidewalk ……).
It takes a bit of time to get used to the device, but once you’re adjusted to it, it feels like you’re being pulled along even when you’re only going 12 mph. Avoid wheels that are too slow if your trip includes long straight lines, especially since boredom impairs alertness.
Autonomy is also a criterion to take into account. It depends on the capacity of the battery, expressed in ampere-hours (Ah) and in volts (V). The autonomy varies, depending on the model, between 10 and 120 km.
Manufacturers tend to overestimate it. The larger the battery capacity, the longer it lasts, but the longer the charging time (between 1 and 3 hours). On average, a 130 Wh battery lasts about 10 km with a single charge, a 340 Wh battery 30 km, a 680 Wh battery 60 km. Choose according to your journey.
Ideally, check the technical data sheet of the wheel for the brand of the battery (Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, Panasonic). When manufacturers have opted for a good quality battery, they don’t hesitate to mention it.
And they are right: cheap batteries are potentially dangerous, as users of electric skateboards have seen.
WEIGHT AND HANDLE
It is usually between 10 and 20 kg. If you have to carry the wheel a lot, for example up stairs, a few kilos make all the difference.
There are models with an integrated telescopic carrying handle to pull the wheel like a suitcase. The device is useful because you can stop and run errands without having to carry wheels.
Secutronic One Wheel Electric Scooter
In 2014, people fell in love with a different kind of personal transport. Secutronic discovered that a stabilized gyro wheel could be a fun, light, practical, and original way to get around town, without handlebars or controls.
It is user friendly and easy to use even for those without riding experience. The free hands, the feeling of freedom and the gliding sensations provide unequalled pleasure, and transform your journeys into a game!
The weight of this one wheel scooter goes from 15 to 40 kilos. Just like the InMotion V11 single-wheeled skateboard, this Electric Unicycle are with advanced in-app statistics, and gives you access to data to track your performance and usage habits.
